Chukchansi Tribe Scores Auto-Approval for Betting Upgrade

## Summary

The State of California and the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians just got an automatic green light for their updated gaming agreement, which now runs through the end of 2026. This update also allows off-track betting, opening new ways to play and win. Since the government didn’t act within 45 days, the amendment is officially approved by default starting January 26, 2026.

## Abstract

This notice announces the approval by operation of law of the fourth amendment to the Tribal-State Compact Between the State of California and the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians of California (Amendment) governing the operation and regulation of class III gaming activities.

## Effects PRIA read

- Compact Extended Through Dec 31, 2026: benefit, low. The Tribal-State Compact between California and the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians is extended until December 31, 2026, and that extension took effect on January 26, 2026. This means the compact governing class III gaming remains in force through that date.
- Off-Track Wagering Now Permitted: benefit, low. Appendix C was added to the compact to permit off-track wagering, and that change is effective January 26, 2026. If you place or operate off-track wagers related to the Tribe's class III gaming, the compact now explicitly allows that activity.
