Coast Guard Cages Ohio River for Louisville's Big Rowing Bash

## Summary

The Coast Guard wants to set up a special safety zone on the Ohio River near Louisville on October 10, 2026, during a big rowing race. No boats or people can enter this area without special permission to keep everyone safe and avoid traffic jams on the water. If you’re affected, make sure to share your thoughts by June 4, 2026!

## Abstract

The Coast Guard is proposing to establish a temporary special local regulation (SLR) for certain navigable waters of the Ohio River. The SLR is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards created by a rowing event. This proposed rulemaking would prohibit persons and vessels from being in the regulated area unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port (COTP), Ohio Valley or their designated representative. We invite your comments on this proposed rulemaking.
