FEMA Publishes Final Flood Map Changes

## Summary

FEMA just updated flood risk maps for several communities, changing flood zones and water levels that affect flood insurance rules. If you live or own property in these areas, your insurance rates or building rules might change soon. These updates are final and already published, so check your local map or online to see how it impacts you and your wallet.

## Abstract

New or modified Base (1-percent annual chance) Flood Elevations (BFEs), base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries or zone designations, and/or regulatory floodways (hereinafter referred to as flood hazard determinations) as shown on the indicated Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for each of the communities listed in the table below are finalized. Each LOMR revises the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), and in some cases the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports, currently in effect for the listed communities.

## Effects PRIA read

- FEMA Finalized New Flood Maps: mixed, medium. FEMA finalized new or modified flood hazard determinations — including Base (1-percent annual chance) Flood Elevations (BFEs), base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries, zone designations, and regulatory floodways — for the communities listed in the table. Each Letter of Map Re…
- Maps Set Required Floodplain Rules: cost, medium. The new or modified flood hazard information is the basis for the floodplain management measures communities must adopt or show are already in effect to stay in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). These measures are tied to the floodplain management criteria required by 44 CFR 60.3.
- Use New Community Number For Policies: mixed, low. The notice states that the current effective community number shown must be used for all new flood insurance policies and renewals for the listed communities. This affects how NFIP policies are issued in those areas.
- Maps Available Online and Locally: benefit, low. Each Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) is available for inspection at the listed Community Map Repository address and online through the FEMA Map Service Center at https://msc.fema.gov. Interested lessees and owners of real property are encouraged to review the final flood hazard information.
