Maritime Agency Renews Tax-Deferral Fund Forms

## Summary

The Maritime Administration wants to keep collecting info from U.S. ship owners who use the Capital Construction Fund, a special savings plan that helps them build or upgrade vessels by delaying some taxes. Fewer people are responding now, but the rules and forms won’t change. If you’re involved, you’ve got 30 days to share your thoughts—no extra costs or new paperwork coming your way!

## Abstract

MARAD invites public comments on its intention to request Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew an information collection in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed collection OMB 2133-0027 (Capital Construction Fund and Exhibits) is necessary for MARAD to determine an applicant's eligibility to enter a Capital Construction Fund (CCF) Agreement, and their compliance with the requirements of this program. Since the last renewal, there was a reduction in the total respondents, responses, and burden hours for this collection. MARAD is required to publish this notice in the Federal Register to obtain comments from the public and affected agencies.

The collection is estimated at 160 re…
- Renewal Is ‘Extension Without Change’: benefit, low. MARAD is requesting OMB approval to renew the CCF information collection as an "extension without change," meaning the currently approved collection is being renewed without changes to the forms or requirements. The request is listed under OMB Control Number 2133-0027 and will follow the same annua…
- Reported Reduction in Reporting Burden: benefit, low. MARAD reports that since the last renewal there was a reduction in total respondents, responses, and burden hours for this CCF collection. The notice gives the estimated number of respondents as 160, estimated responses as 160, estimated hours per response as 1–12.5, and total annual burden hours a…
