Airbus Oxygen Fails Epic Flight Crew Endurance Test

## Summary

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus SAS Model A330-200 and A330-300 series airplanes modified by a certain supplemental type certificate (STC). This AD was prompted by a finding that, for airplanes with a flightcrew oxygen system supplied by a single oxygen cylinder, the oxygen supply would not be sufficient under all circumstances for extended operations (ETOPS) with a maximum diversion time of 180 minutes (ETOPS-180) with four flightcrew members. This AD requires revising the existing Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFM-S) to limit ETOPS-180 operations to three flightcrew members, as applicable, and correct minimum oxygen dispatch pressure information. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

## Effects PRIA read

- ETOPS-180 Flights Limited to 3 Crew: benefit, medium. If your airplane is an Airbus A330-200 or A330-300 converted under FAA STC ST04038NY (EASA STC S10063798) and has a flightcrew oxygen system supplied by a single oxygen cylinder, the AD requires limiting ETOPS operations with a 180-minute diversion (ETOPS-180) to three flightcrew members instead of…
- AFM-S Oxygen Dispatch Info Update and Compliance Cost: cost, low. The AD requires updating the Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFM-S) to correct the minimum oxygen dispatch pressure information and incorporate the ETOPS-180 three-crew limitation. The FAA estimates this AD affects 11 U.S.-registered airplanes and that the required action will take 1 work-hour a…
