Nuke Agency Renews 'How to Pay Us' Form Review

## Summary

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is renewing its info collection about how you pay fees, including using credit cards on Pay.gov. If you deal with NRC payments, this update keeps things smooth and clear—no big changes in cost or timing. You’ve got until October 22, 2026, to share your thoughts before the renewal moves forward.

## Abstract

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has recently submitted a request for renewal of an existing collection of information to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review. The information collection is entitled, NUREG/BR-0254, "Payment Methods," and "Authorization for Payment by Credit Card on Pay.gov."

## Effects PRIA read

- Credit-card Authorization Moves to Pay.gov: mixed, low. The NRC is discontinuing the PDF NRC Form 629 and will collect the same credit-card authorization information exclusively through Pay.gov for future transactions. This change applies to people and entities who pay NRC fees, including licensees, applicants, and individuals.
- PayPal and Venmo Now Accepted: benefit, low. The NRC lists four accepted payment methods for bills owed to the agency: Automated Clearinghouse (ACH), credit card, Electronic Funds Transfer/FedWire, and digital wallets (PayPal and Venmo). These options apply to payments for civil penalties, licensing fees, inspection fees, and other NRC fees.
- Information-Collection Renewal and Burden: cost, low. The NRC submitted a revision to the information collection NUREG/BR-0254 (OMB control number 3150-0190) and estimates 700 annual responses from NRC licensees, with an estimated total burden of 116 hours per year. The public may submit comments on the renewal by October 22, 2026.
