EPA Seeks Ongoing Forms for Superfund Cleanups

## Summary

The EPA is asking to keep collecting info for people handling cleanup actions under a big environmental law called CERCLA. If you’re involved in these cleanup projects, this means you’ll keep filling out forms to get approval and claim costs. You’ve got until October 22, 2026, to share your thoughts, and this process helps keep things running smoothly without extra costs.

## Abstract

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has submitted an information collection request (ICR), Application for Preauthorization of CERCLA Response Action and Claim for CERCLA Response Action (EPA ICR Number 7808.06, OMB Control Number 2050-0106) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. This is a proposed extension of the ICR, which was approved through April 30, 2001. Public comments were previously requested via the Federal Register on February 28, 2025, during a 60-day comment period. This notice allows for an additional 30 days for public comments.

- Forms posted online and burden reduced: benefit, medium. EPA will make the two CERCLA forms publicly available on its website and allow submission by email, and it reports a reduction of 1,807 hours compared to the prior approved information collection. EPA attributes the reduction to fewer entities requesting the authority and use of internet and comput…
