Federal Survey Asks Whether Seatbelt Slogan Still Gets Drivers Buckled

## Summary

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants your thoughts on a new survey to check how well the Click It or Ticket seatbelt campaign is working. This affects drivers and passengers who might be part of the study, and the agency needs approval before collecting info. You’ve got until January 4, 2027, to share your comments—no cost to you, just your voice!

## Abstract

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration invites public comments about our intention to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for a new information collection. Before a Federal agency can collect certain information from the public, it must receive approval from OMB. Under procedures established by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, before seeking OMB approval, Federal agencies must solicit public comment on proposed collections of information, including extensions and reinstatement of previously approved collections. This document describes a collection of information for which NHTSA intends to seek OMB approval to be conducted as part of an evaluation of the Click It or Ticket (CIOT) high-visibility enforcement campaign.

That calculation uses 4,800 respondents per wave, 15 minutes per respondent, and averages burden hours across the th…
- Targeted sampling in four metropolitan areas: cost, low. At each survey wave, 800 respondents will live in one of four selected metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs), with 200 respondents per MSA, and an additional 4,000 respondents will be drawn from the rest of the U.S. This means residents of the four selected MSAs have a specified quota (200 per MSA…
- Data privacy protections and report sharing: benefit, low. NHTSA will produce a technical report and a dataset that does not contain any personally identifiable information, and no identifying information or individual responses will be reported.
