Army Wants Feedback on Base-Entry System Used by 1.5 Million

## Summary

The Department of Defense is updating how it collects info from people who want to enter Army bases, like visitors, contractors, and service members. They’re asking for public feedback by December 4, 2026, to improve the Automated Installation Entry system, which includes both online and in-person registration. This update affects over 1.5 million annual users and aims to keep base access safe and smooth without adding extra time or cost.

## Abstract

The Department of Defense (referred to herein as "the Department", "Department of War" or "DoW") has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act.

- AIE vetting can grant or deny base access: cost, medium. The Army uses information from the AIE system to verify identity, authenticate credentials, vet against government data sources and access-denial lists, determine fitness for installation access, and to issue, manage, or deny local access credentials or visitor passes. This process is used to prote…
- Multiple ways to register (online, kiosks, in-person): benefit, low. You can provide AIE information through an online visitor-registration portal, at a Visitor Control Center, through self-service kiosks, or by authorized personnel at an installation access-control point. The notice describes separate respondent counts for in-person (1,016,570 respondents) and onli…
