USGS Seeks Comments on Its Landslide Grant Paperwork

## Summary

The U.S. Geological Survey wants to keep collecting info for its Landslide Hazard Mapping and Assessment Grant Program. This affects communities and groups working to spot landslide risks, helping them get grants to map and study dangerous areas. You can share your thoughts by January 4, 2027, so the program stays useful and easy to use.

## Abstract

In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is proposing to renew an information collection.

## Effects PRIA read

- Competitive Landslide Mapping Grants Continue: benefit, medium. The U.S. Geological Survey will continue collecting information to operate the Landslide Hazard Mapping and Assessment Grant Program that provides competitive grants to State, territorial, local, and Tribal governments to research, map, assess, and collect data on landslide hazards under the Nation…
- What Projects Are Eligible to Apply: benefit, low. Applicants may submit proposals in one or more priority areas: (a) advancing landslide hazard mapping and assessments, (b) improving landslide hazard planning and coordination, and (c) improving dissemination and effectiveness of landslide hazard information to mitigate losses.
- Application Time Burden for Applicants: cost, medium. The information collection anticipates a Total Estimated Number of Annual Respondents of 20, with an Estimated Completion Time per Response of 40 hours and Total Estimated Number of Annual Burden Hours of 800. Response is voluntary but required to be eligible to receive funding.
- Grantee Reporting and Public Release Rules: cost, low. Award recipients must submit final technical reports summarizing project outcomes, and awards spanning more than two years must also submit annual progress reports; final technical reports are made publicly available at the USGS external grants page (https://www.usgs.gov/programs/landslide-hazards/…
