FAA Targets Tecnam Plane Shock Mounts After Damage Reports

## Summary

The FAA wants all Tecnam P2006T airplane owners to check if their engine shock mounts are the right kind because some faulty ones caused damage. If they find bad mounts, they must swap them out for approved parts and never install the wrong ones again. Comments on this plan are open until December 21, 2026, so owners should act soon to keep their planes safe and sound.

## Abstract

The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam S.P.A. (Tecnam) Model P2006T airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by a report of damage on the engine mount structure caused by defective non-conforming engine shock mounts being installed. This proposed AD would require inspecting for the installation of non-conforming engine shock mounts and replacing any non-conforming engine shock mount with an approved part. This proposed AD would also prohibit installation of a non-conforming engine shock mount on any airplane. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

## Effects PRIA read

- Required inspection and replacements within 25 hours/30 days: cost, high. If you own or operate a Tecnam Model P2006T airplane and it has an affected shock mount, you must replace that mount with a serviceable part within 25 hours time-in-service (TIS) or 30 days, whichever comes first after the effective date of the AD. At the same time you must do a detailed inspection…
- Ban on installing specific shock mounts (P/N CONO21-BS): benefit, low. As of the effective date of this AD, do not install the affected engine shock mount identified as part number CONO21-BS with batch number 49-24 or 11-25 on any airplane. The AD defines the affected part and prohibits its installation to avoid the unsafe condition.
- FAA cost estimates and possible warranty coverage: cost, high. The FAA estimates this AD would affect 131 U.S.-registered airplanes. Inspection labor is estimated at 1.5 work-hours × $85/hour = $127.50 per engine (parts $0). On-condition replacement estimates are: replacing shock mounts (4 per engine) totals $690 per engine (parts $520 + $170 labor) and replac…
