FAA Proposes More Checks for Airbus A350 Safety

## Summary

The FAA wants to update safety rules for certain Airbus A350 airplanes by adding stricter maintenance checks to keep them flying safely. This affects airlines operating these models and means they’ll need to follow new inspection schedules soon. Comments on these changes are open until December 21, 2026, so everyone has a chance to weigh in before the rules become final.

## Abstract

The FAA proposes to supersede Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2024-19-03, which applies to certain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 and - 1041 airplanes. AD 2024-19-03 requires revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. Since the FAA issued AD 2024-19-03, the FAA has determined that new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations are necessary. This proposed AD would continue to require certain actions in AD 2024-19-03 and would require revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

## Effects PRIA read

- New mandatory A350 maintenance rules: cost, high. If you operate Airbus A350-941 or A350-1041 airplanes with an original airworthiness or export certificate issued on or before December 1, 2025, you must revise your maintenance or inspection program to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations specified in EASA AD 2024-0005, EA…
- FAA cost estimate for A350 operators: cost, high. The FAA estimates this proposed AD would affect 38 U.S.-registered airplanes. The FAA estimates a per-operator labor cost of $7,650 (90 work-hours x $85/hour) for the retained actions from AD 2024-19-03 and another $7,650 (90 work-hours x $85/hour) for the new proposed actions.
