## Summary

**Creates a federal program to expand school-based student suicide awareness and prevention training.** It requires evidence-based, culturally appropriate training for middle and high school students and gives funding priority to districts that adopt formal school policies. - Students and families: Training must cover suicide risk factors, how to seek help, and available resources for students in grades 6 through 12 and include periodic retraining so students get repeated instruction. - Schools and education agencies: State, local, and Tribal educational agencies that already use or plan to adopt a school-based suicide prevention policy get priority for grants under Sec. 520A. Policies must be developed with stakeholder consultation and may use materials from the Suicide Prevention Technical Assistance Center. - Federal coordination and transparency: Grantees must report aggregated, privacy-protecting counts of trainings, students trained by age and grade, delivery methods, and help-seeking reports. The Health Secretary will coordinate with Education and Interior to publish policies, share best practices, and report to Congress by Sept 30, 2024 on adoption and reporting data.
