## Summary

**Would let Congress and the States regulate and limit money in elections and set up public campaign financing to curb the influence of private wealth.** It would be added to the Constitution if ratified by three-fourths of state legislatures within seven years. - Campaigns and voters: Would allow governments to create publicly funded campaign systems that offset private spending and impose viewpoint-neutral limits on how candidates and others raise and spend money to influence elections. - Corporations and other legal entities: Would let Congress and States treat natural persons differently from corporations or other artificial entities and could prohibit those entities from spending money to influence elections. - Governments and the press: Would give Congress and the States explicit authority to pass and enforce laws carrying out the amendment while saying nothing in the amendment grants power to abridge freedom of the press.

If enacted, this amendment would let Congress and states set reasonable, viewpoint‑neutral limits on raising and spending money to influence elections. Lawmakers could cap donations and campaign spending by candidates and other groups. Governments would also be able to pass and enforce laws to carr…

Lawmakers could prohibit such entities from spending money to influence elections. Businesses and groups that now fund ads could face new limits. Voters could see fewer corp…
