## Summary

**This bill would authorize concurrent receipt of retired pay and VA disability compensation for many combat-related disability retirees.** It sets rules that vary by years of service, ties the change to the Combat-Related Special Compensation program, and applies to months beginning on or after January 1, 2027. - Combat-related disability retirees who are entitled to retired pay under chapter 61 and to VA disability compensation for the same month may receive both payments at the same time without the offset rules in 38 U.S.C. 5304 and 5305. - Career retirees with 20 or more years of service may receive both retired pay and disability compensation, with retired pay calculated as if they had the applicable service years used to determine retired pay. - Disabled retirees with less than 20 years of service may receive the lesser of: the full retired pay plus VA disability compensation or amounts computed as if they had 20 years of service. *Authorizes $9.4 billion in appropriations to the Department of Defense to implement these changes, increasing federal spending to carry out the policy.*
