## Summary

**Restricting use of AI from specified companies in Defense systems.** This bill would require the Department of Defense to issue department-wide guidance that identifies "covered" artificial intelligence companies and creates processes to exclude and remove AI developed by those companies from DoD systems and devices. - DoD officials and system managers would have to produce guidance and removal procedures within 30 days after enactment of the FY2027 defense bill, setting a department-wide standard for identifying covered AI companies. - AI developed by companies labeled "covered" would be subject to formal exclusion and removal from Department systems and devices, creating a specific pathway to stop their use in DoD equipment. - The bill changes a timing trigger so certain restrictions take effect on and after the date that is 90 days after a specified event, replacing a conditional "if" threshold and making the start date explicit.
