## Summary

**Expands financial literacy best practices to secondary schools and local educational agencies.** The bill would broaden the Financial Literacy and Education Improvement Act so federal best-practice guidance applies to high schools as well as institutions of higher education. - Secondary students: Would receive school-focused guidance on creating a budget, tracking expenses, saving and investing, credit basics and responsible card use, spotting scams, and understanding postsecondary financing including student loans. - Institutions of higher education: Would get clearer guidance on ensuring each student understands total borrowing obligations, monthly payments and repayment options, the timing and frequency of outreach, and how to target part-time, first-time, and other nontraditional students. - Local educational agencies and secondary schools: Are explicitly brought into the Act's scope so school districts and high schools are covered by the best-practice framework. - Timing: Changes the statutory date anchor from May 24, 2018 to January 1, 2027, which shifts when the revised guidance takes effect.
