## Summary

**Protecting postal workers.** This bill would provide federal money to harden mail infrastructure and push tougher federal prosecution and sentencing for attacks on letter carriers. - Letter carriers and other postal employees would be the main beneficiaries. The bill would direct changes so assaults and robberies of postal workers are treated like assaults on law enforcement officers under federal sentencing rules. - The United States Postal Service would receive $1.4 billion each year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 to install high-security collection boxes and replace older universal mailbox "arrow" keys with electronic versions. - Federal prosecutors would be required to assign an assistant U.S. attorney in each judicial district to coordinate and supervise investigations and prosecutions of crimes against mail carriers, and the Attorney General must comply within one year. *This bill would increase federal spending by $1.4 billion per year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030.*
