## Summary

**Improving mental-health support for middle-school students.** The bill would create the Healthy Minds for a Better Future Act and would establish a multiagency Middle School Mental Health Task Force in the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services to study and survey resources available to parents and educators. - Parents: Parents would get a clearer map of resources, including online platforms and professional and community mental health providers, to help identify and assist middle-school students with possible mental health issues. - Educators and counselors: School staff would receive a consolidated study and an annual report to Congress summarizing tools and supports for secondary schools to use when identifying and helping students. - Students in the middle grades: The work would focus on the "middle grades" as defined in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act so recommendations target that age group. - Task Force members: The Task Force would be 12 members selected regionally and would serve without pay for two-year terms.
