## Summary

**Standardized public reporting of power shutoffs to improve preparedness and transparency.** This bill would create a Public Safety Power Shutoff Event Reporting Program at the Department of Energy to require covered utilities to report PSPS events within 7 days of starting and ending them. - Families and households: Receive quarterly public summaries and improved state and local alerting from machine-readable PSPS data. - Hospitals and health facilities: Utilities must include summaries of advance notifications and consultations with hospitals before and during PSPS events. - Covered electric utilities: Must report within 7 days after starting and after ending a PSPS and provide details like start/end times, customers affected, hazards, communications, and coordination. The rule targets utilities serving 25,000 or more customers and utilities in Secretary-designated high-risk areas. - State, local, and Tribal emergency managers: Get machine-readable summaries to improve preparedness and can submit verified feedback to DOE to refine guidance and best practices. - Underserved and infrastructure-vulnerable communities: Reports must, where practicable, estimate impacts on rural, low-income, and Tribal areas to help focus planning and support.
