## Summary

**This bill would authorize the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino to be located within the National Mall Reserve.** It would also require the museum to present a broad range of Hispanic and Latino political viewpoints and lived experiences when creating or revising exhibits and programs. - Hispanic and Latino communities and visitors: The Board of Trustees must ensure exhibits and programs accurately reflect varied cultures, histories, events, and values and must seek guidance from a defined "broad array" of knowledgeable and respected sources. - Smithsonian and other federal agencies: The bill would allow placement of the museum on the Mall Reserve and changes site-designation rules so affected agencies must be notified, inform specified congressional committees, and transfer administrative jurisdiction to the Smithsonian as soon as practicable. - Congressional oversight and planning: The Secretary of the Smithsonian must report to named House and Senate committees within 120 days of enactment and every two years after that on steps taken to comply, including substantial exhibit revisions and future planning.
