## Summary

**Designates the Honor and Remember Flag as the official national symbol honoring U.S. service members who died in the line of duty.** It would require that flag be shown at specific federal locations and on named days to give a single, consistent symbol of national recognition. - Families and communities: Gives relatives and the public a single, nationally recognized symbol to honor members who died in the line of duty. - Federal sites and offices: Would require display at the Capitol, the White House, national memorials, each national cemetery, major military installations, VA medical centers, certain federal offices, and U.S. Postal Service post offices. - Display schedule and special rules: Would require the flag on six specified days each year, including Memorial Day and Veterans Day. For memorials and VA medical centers the flag may be displayed any day the U.S. flag is shown. Post offices must display it the last business day before a required day when that day is not a business day. - Implementation and logistics: Agencies would have 180 days to write rules to carry out the requirement. The General Services Administration would begin buying and distributing flags within 30 days. - Federal employees: The bill would not allow requiring an employee to report to work solely to display this flag.
