## Summary

**Creates a dedicated Animal Cruelty Crimes Section within the Justice Department** to investigate and prosecute federal animal cruelty laws. The unit would sit in the Environment and Natural Resources Division and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture, the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Customs and Border Protection, and other agencies to bring focused, specialized cases. It would also require annual reports to Congress, starting one year after enactment, that list charges and convictions by specific law and State and that note investigations that did not result in charges.
