## Summary

**Would require Federal Employee Health Benefits to cover fertility treatment.** The bill would add "fertility treatment benefits" to 5 U.S.C. 8904 and define fertility treatment to include preservation of oocytes, sperm, or embryos, artificial insemination, assisted reproductive technology such as in vitro fertilization, genetic testing of embryos, fertility medications, and gamete donation. It would give the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, working with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, authority to add other fertility-related services. Coverage would begin one year after enactment. - Federal employees and families: Federal workers and their dependents would gain coverage for a wide range of fertility services, including IVF, preservation, genetic testing, medications, and donor gametes. - FEHB plans: Federal Employee Health Benefit plans would need to add fertility treatment as a required benefit and update plan offerings within the one-year implementation period. - Agencies that run benefits: The Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Health and Human Services would coordinate to define and expand covered services as clinical practice evolves.
