## Summary

**Speeds up geothermal leasing and forces quicker drilling-permit decisions.** This bill would create annual lease sales, require replacement sales if a sale is canceled, and set short, enforceable timelines for permit reviews tied to NEPA. - Geothermal developers and companies would see more frequent opportunities. Lease sales would occur every year instead of waiting at least two years, and a canceled or delayed sale must be replaced within the same year. - Permit applicants would get faster answers and clearer steps. The Secretary must say within 30 days if an application is complete or what is missing. If complete and NEPA and other laws are satisfied the agency has 30 days to issue a permit. If the decision is deferred the agency must list steps and then decide no later than 10 days after applicants and agencies finish those actions. - Land and environmental review would be preserved in part but limited. At each annual sale the Secretary must offer 75 percent of nominated parcels for lease and may withhold the remaining 25 percent only with a written statutory, environmental, or administrative justification.
