## Summary

**Creates a federal grant and BOP program to provide routine mental health screening and referral for corrections officers.** The bill targets short, anonymous screens and local outreach teams to connect officers who show signs of severe mental illness with mental health providers. - Corrections officers would be given an anonymous 5 to 10 question mental health screening that identifies severe conditions, asks about symptoms and past inpatient care or medications, and records place of residence for referrals. - States and units of local government could receive grants to build the survey technology, hire staff and a mental health liaison, create outreach teams, and pay staff salaries or overtime to carry out screenings and referrals. - The Bureau of Prisons would set up its own screening and outreach program for BOP officers and submit an implementation plan. An Advisory Board would evaluate and approve plans, provide technical help, monitor privacy and self-reporting protections, and share best practices. *Would authorize annual appropriations of $50.0 million for FY2026, $55.0 million for FY2027, $60.0 million for FY2028, $65.0 million for FY2029, and $70.0 million for FY2030, increasing federal spending to fund grants, BOP activities, and advisory functions.*
