## Summary

**annual post-enactment CBO analysis of major legislation** This bill would require an annual post-enactment CBO analysis of major legislation. CBO would publish yearly updates for the first 10 years after a major law, compare actual costs and revenue to prior estimates, and require explanations for discrepancies of 10 percent or more. The bill defines "major legislation" as laws that change outlays or receipts by at least 0.25% of current projected GDP and obligates agencies to provide requested information to CBO. - Lawmakers would get public, annual reports comparing actual costs and revenues for major laws to earlier CBO estimates and written explanations when differences reach 10 percent or more. - Federal departments and agencies would have to provide information and assistance to CBO on request, increasing their reporting duties for covered laws. - The public and oversight bodies would gain timely, 10-year post-enactment analyses to see how large laws perform in practice.
