## Summary

**Protects gun rights for residents of federally assisted rental housing.** This bill would bar housing providers from banning or adding extra limits on lawful firearm possession inside a resident's unit and in specified common areas while the resident is carrying or transporting the firearm to or from their unit. - Residents and families: Tenants in covered federally assisted housing would be allowed to lawfully possess firearms inside their dwelling unit and in common areas when carrying or transporting the firearm to or from their unit. - Housing providers and landlords: Public housing authorities and other assisted housing providers could not impose prohibitions or additional restrictions on lawful firearm possession for covered residents. - Scope and programs: The protection would apply to nine HUD or USDA housing programs, including public housing, Section 8 rental assistance, HOME, the Housing Trust Fund, Section 811 supportive housing, AIDS housing, Native American and Native Hawaiian housing, and rural rental housing.
