## Summary

**Address intergenerational harms from Agent Orange exposure.** This bill would direct the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services to expand care, research, and community services for children of Vietnam veterans and Vietnamese American communities affected by herbicide exposure. - Families and children: Would rename and VA subchapter using gender-neutral "Vietnam veteran" language and refocus it on "children of vietnam veterans born with certain birth defects." VA must survey children who received care to see if treatment is adequate and recommend fixes. - Veterans, researchers, and providers: Would require VA to support and coordinate public research on Agent Orange health issues with U.S. and Vietnam medical schools. VA-contracted health providers must give access to medical records for research and the bill broadly defines "Agent Orange" to include compounds that became part of herbicides by design or impurities. - Vietnamese American communities: Would require HHS to fund broad health assessments of Vietnamese Americans and descendants and to establish local centers for assessment, counseling, and treatment. Each Secretary must produce implementation plans within 180 days and complete implementation within 18 months.
