## Summary

**Would create a new deportation ground for people who commit or admit to assaulting law enforcement officers.** It would also require the Department of Homeland Security to publish an annual report on deportations under that new ground. - Noncitizens convicted of, or admitting to, acts that meet the elements of assault on a law enforcement officer would become deportable. Deportability applies if the officer was assaulted while performing official duties, because of those duties, or because of the officer's status. - The bill defines "law enforcement officer" broadly to cover people authorized to prevent, detain, investigate, prosecute, or incarcerate, and it explicitly includes firefighters and other first responders. - The Secretary of Homeland Security would have to submit and publicly post an annual report to Congress showing the number of aliens deported under the new ground.
