## Summary

**Paid, no-cost, and better-timed training for school food service workers.** This bill would require training carried out under the Child Nutrition Act to be scheduled during regular paid hours when possible, be offered in person if appropriate, include experiential learning, and be provided at no cost to food service personnel. - Food service personnel would generally receive training during regular paid work hours and get hands-on learning at no cost. - If training must occur outside regular hours the bill would require programs to inform and consult staff, pay attendees at their regular rate including any overtime, and prohibit penalties for nonattendance. - School districts and training providers would need to offer in-person options when appropriate and arrange timing or pay to minimize disruption for staff. - The bill would clarify that these training rules do not supersede or change any federal, state, or local employment laws or contractual obligations.
