## Summary

**Ban on gender-based pricing.** This bill would make it unlawful to charge different prices for substantially similar consumer products or for substantially similar services based on the gender the items or services are marketed to. - Consumers and families: Would stop different prices for similar products aimed at different genders. A difference in coloring would not count as a substantial difference. - Manufacturers and retailers: Would have to price "substantially similar" products the same when there are no substantial differences in materials, intended use, or functional design and features. Covered consumer products include those in the Consumer Product Safety Act and items like devices, cosmetics, and certain child restraint systems. - Service providers: Would be barred from charging different rates for services that are substantially similar in time, difficulty, or cost to provide. - Enforcement and states: Would treat violations as unfair or deceptive acts under the Federal Trade Commission Act and let the Federal Trade Commission use its full enforcement powers and penalties. State attorneys general could sue on behalf of residents after notifying the FTC 10 days before filing, and the FTC may intervene in state suits.
