## Summary

**This bill would move the United States Marshals Service (USMS) into the judicial branch and **rebuild its leadership and duties** to make marshals answer to a Chief Justice‑appointed Director and a new Board.** - The Director and Board: It would create a Director appointed by the Chief Justice in consultation with a Board. The Board can remove the Director and set goals for the Service. - District marshals and terms: The Chief Justice would appoint a marshal for each judicial district and the D.C. Superior Court. Marshals would serve four‑year terms and stay on until a successor qualifies. - New authorities and cooperation: It would let the USMS provide personal protection for federal jurists, court officers, witnesses, and others when criminal intimidation disrupts judicial processes. It would also permit the Service, at the Attorney General's request and with the Director's approval, to investigate fugitives, issue administrative subpoenas for unregistered sex offenders, and assist in locating missing children.
