## Summary

**State control over gender fields on IDs.** This bill would let states decide whether to include a gender or sex field on driver’s licenses and state identification cards. If a state chooses to include the field, applicants would indicate their designation without extra documentation and the state would have to include an "unspecified" or "other" option alongside male and female. - States would gain explicit authority to include or omit a gender/sex field on licenses and ID cards. - People applying for IDs would be able to self‑select a designation without a doctor’s note or other paperwork and would see a non‑binary "unspecified" or "other" choice. - State motor vehicle agencies would need to update forms and record systems to accept self‑designation and the additional option. - A technical correction would update a cross‑reference in the Court Security Improvement Act to reflect the reordered sections.
