## Summary

**Expands the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area to include the Rim of the Valley Unit.** This bill would set the recreation area boundary using two official maps and allow the National Park Service to administer any land or interests acquired within the Rim of the Valley Unit under the area's existing laws, while preserving ongoing water and utility operations subject to measures that reasonably avoid or reduce impacts. - National Park Service staff would treat any acquired Rim of the Valley lands as part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and apply the same laws and regulations to them. - Water resource facilities and public utilities located in the Rim of the Valley Unit could keep operating, but their activities must be conducted to reasonably avoid or reduce impacts on the unit's natural resources. - The two official maps that define the new boundary must be kept on file and made available for public inspection at the appropriate National Park Service offices.
