## Summary

**Preserves current U.S. Navy ship names honoring eight Americans by barring any renaming.** The Preserving Great Americans' Legacies Act of 2025 would prohibit the Secretary of the Navy from changing the name of any naval vessel that, when the law takes effect, is named for Cesar Chavez, Medgar Evers, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Dolores Huerta, Thurgood Marshall, Harvey Milk, Lucy Stone, or Harriet Tubman. It would override the Secretary's renaming authority under 10 U.S.C. 8662(b) and would not affect naming of future vessels.
