## Summary

**Guarantee at least one full-service Veterans Health Administration (VHA) hospital or equivalent in each contiguous state.** This bill would require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure veterans eligible under 38 U.S.C. §1710 can get hospital care at not fewer than one full-service VHA hospital located within each of the 48 contiguous states or receive comparable services through contracts with in-state health care providers. - Veterans: Eligible veterans would have access to a full-service VHA hospital in their state or comparable care through VA contracts. The bill also allows the VA to provide enhanced care across state lines when needed. - VA operations and oversight: The VA would add a new Sec. 1716A and must report to Congress within one year on how it complied with the requirement and how it affected quality and standards of care. - State health providers: Hospitals and health systems in states without a VHA full-service hospital could contract with the VA to deliver comparable services, creating new VA contracting opportunities.
