Every redaction must include a written justification published in the Federal Register. - DOJ, officials, and Congress: The Attorney General must declassify to the maximum extent or provide unclassified summaries for withheld classified material. Any classification after July 1, 2025 must be published with the classifying authority and an unclassified summary, and within 15 days of completing the release the Attorney General must report to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees listing categories released and withheld, a summary of redactions and a list of government officials and politically exposed persons named.
