## Summary

**Assess fiscal risks from major national and international shocks.** This bill would require the Treasury Secretary, working with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, to add an annual examination of the fiscal risks and fiscal impacts of federal responses to major shocks such as recessions, pandemics, cyberattacks, and disasters. - Treasury and OMB would have to include a three-part examination in the annual report that lists and assesses fiscal risks from government responses, estimates short-term and long-term fiscal effects, and describes the economic indicators used to show those effects. - The Comptroller General would review the methodology and results of the first examination within 1 year, publish findings on the Government Accountability Office website, and send that report to the Senate and House Budget Committees. Reviews may occur periodically thereafter. - The examination must explicitly cover events including an economic recession, a domestic energy crisis, a catastrophic natural disaster, a health crisis like a global pandemic, a significant armed conflict or event, a significant cyber attack, and a financial crisis.
