## Summary

**A cross-agency Task Force to recognize and avert payment scams** would bring federal agencies, industry, and victims together to study scam trends, recommend prevention and enforcement steps, and publish public findings. - Consumers and families would see coordinated consumer education and guidance aimed at spotting and avoiding common scam tactics like spoofed calls, scam texts, and malicious websites. - Financial institutions and payment providers would have official representation on the Task Force so banks, credit unions, community banks, and digital payment networks can share and adopt best practices. - Victims and support networks would be represented with up to 5 appointed members to ensure survivor experience shapes recommendations and outreach strategies. - Regulators and law enforcement would coordinate across federal, State, local, and Tribal authorities, meet at least 3 times in the first year, and deliver a public report within 1 year with recommended legislative or regulatory steps.
