## Summary

**Treats Fulbright teaching service as qualifying public service employment for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).** This bill would add participation in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program and the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program to the Higher Education Act’s PSLF eligibility rules so that that time can count as public service employment. Fulbright participants who have federal student loans could apply their Fulbright service time toward PSLF’s employment requirement, provided they meet the program’s other rules such as making qualifying payments. The change only recognizes those Fulbright programs as qualifying public service for the purpose of loan cancellation under the existing PSLF framework.
