## Summary

**Prohibits discrimination in the Armed Forces based on race, color, national origin, religion, and sex — including gender identity, sexual orientation, and sex characteristics (including intersex traits).** This bill would require that eligibility for service and personnel policies focus only on an individual’s ability to meet generally applicable occupational standards for military service and the specific military occupational specialty. - Applicants and recruits would be evaluated only on their ability to meet job and fitness standards, not on race, religion, or sex traits. - Active duty and reserve members would have personnel policies that must ensure equal treatment and opportunity regardless of the listed protected characteristics. - Military Secretaries would be required to shape and apply personnel policies to meet this nondiscrimination standard, and the bill inserts a new Section 651a into Chapter 37 and updates the table of sections.
