## Summary

**This bill would let Border States place movable, temporary structures on Federal land near the U.S. northern or southern border to help secure the border.** It removes the normal requirement for a special use authorization if the state gives 45 days notice and follows time limits and extension rules tied to Customs and Border Protection's operational control determination. - Border States: Would be allowed to install movable, temporary structures on adjacent Federal land after giving at least 45 days notice. Placements would generally last up to 1 year and can be extended in 90-day increments if operational control is not yet achieved. - Federal land managers: Would no longer require a special use authorization for these short-term placements but would handle the notices and decide 90-day extension approvals after consulting with Customs and Border Protection. - Customs and Border Protection: Would be consulted on extensions and its determination that "operational control" has not been achieved would require approval of additional 90-day extensions.
