## Summary

**A Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition** would be created to advise the President and accelerate national efforts to boost youth physical activity and nutrition. - Families and children would see more emphasis on school and community physical education through programs and awards that reward excellence and promote healthy habits. - Schools and educators would get recommendations for school-based challenges and incentives, including reestablishing the Presidential Fitness Test as the primary assessment for a Presidential Fitness Award. - Youth sports and community groups would be encouraged to expand participation via partnerships with professional athletes, sports organizations, players' associations, nonprofits, and community groups. - The Council would focus on strategies that link childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles to future workforce and military readiness. - The Council would have up to 30 presidentially appointed members serving 2-year terms who serve without pay but may receive travel reimbursement. The Secretary of Health and Human Services would provide administrative and funding support as appropriated and the Council would terminate 2 years after enactment unless extended.
