## Summary

**Authorizes expanded integrated cross-border law enforcement operations with Canada.** The bill would direct the Department of Homeland Security to negotiate agreements for joint aerial, land, and maritime operations and would allow U.S. and foreign law enforcement to be stationed in each other’s territory. - Border communities and travelers: May see more joint U.S.-Canada patrols and operations in land, air, and maritime areas near the border. That could change how incidents are handled locally. - Law enforcement personnel: Would let foreign officers be designated with Customs Service privileges and immunities and permit stationing of foreign officials in the United States and U.S. officers in foreign countries for joint operations. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations: Would allow CBP to use available funds to pay tort claims that arise abroad in connection with CBP operations.
