## Summary

**Continuity of mental health care during the DoD-to-VA transition** is the bill's main aim. It lets a person moving from Department of Defense treatment to Department of Veterans Affairs care continue seeing their DoD mental health provider while they transfer. - Transitioning service members and veterans may elect to keep their Department of Defense mental health provider and receive the same priority as members of the Armed Forces at the military medical treatment facility where they continue care. If the provider departs or the individual relocates and cannot reasonably get care at that facility, the individual may choose another provider at the same facility or transition to a VA provider. - The Department of Veterans Affairs must reimburse the Department of Defense for services that the VA would otherwise have furnished. The VA must also ensure any DoD mental health provider who treated the covered individual submits copies of those medical records for inclusion in the veteran's VA electronic medical record.

You must have a diagnosed mental health condition and be enrolling in the VA patient system, or be newly enrolled and still in transition, as VA determines. You would get the same priority as…
