## Summary

**Integrate penicillin allergy verification into Medicare preventive visits.** This bill would add a defined penicillin allergy verification and evaluation to Medicare's initial preventive physical exam and to the annual wellness visit so patients with reported penicillin allergy get identification, education, and referral steps during those visits. - Seniors and Medicare enrollees: Would be asked about any reported penicillin allergy during IPPE and AWV, receive information about the harms of a penicillin allergy label, and be referred to an allergy specialist when appropriate. Studies cited in the bill say more than 90 percent of self‑reported penicillin allergies are likely not true and a 2023 study found 97 percent were disproven after testing. - Clinicians and providers: Would have a defined workflow to document and evaluate penicillin allergy histories in preventive visits. The bill also says providers can be paid separately for structured penicillin allergy validation services furnished on the same day as the preventive visit. - Public health and antibiotic stewardship: By making delabeling part of routine Medicare prevention visits, the bill aims to improve antibiotic choice, patient outcomes, and reduce costs tied to incorrect allergy labels. The changes would apply to exams and visits furnished on or after January 1, 2027.
