## Summary

**A national strategy to prevent and respond to scams.** This bill would create an interagency task force led by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice to coordinate federal agencies, industry, and international partners and to focus on public education, enforcement, and improving recovery for scam victims. - Consumers and scam victims: Expanded public education and steps to improve recovery resources, guided by data from the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. - Federal agencies and enforcement: Agencies such as the Secret Service, FBI, Securities and Exchange Commission, Social Security Administration, Postal Service, and others would coordinate actions on fraud, money laundering, and human trafficking. The task force would terminate ten years after enactment. - Industry and state partners: The task force must consult banks, social media and dating platforms, peer-to-peer payment services, cryptocurrency firms, state attorneys general, state securities commissions, local law enforcement, and consumer advocates to shape prevention and response efforts.
