## Summary

**Bring DoD ID and eligibility services within 30 miles of large metro areas.** The STARS Act would require the Department of Defense to ensure staffed, in-person facilities to help service members and eligible dependents with DEERS and RAPIDS tasks. - Service members and families would have local, in-person help for enrollment and ID issues like DEERS and RAPIDS, with facilities required to be open and staffed at least two days per week. - Offices would have to be located within 30 miles of each metropolitan statistical area that has 300,000 or more people, using OMB definitions and the latest census estimates. - The Secretary of Defense would be responsible for meeting the new requirement through a provision added as Section 996 to Chapter 50 of Title 10 of the U.S. Code.
