## Summary

**Automated wait-time alerts and callbacks for VA customer service lines.** This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to install systems within one year that tell callers their expected wait and automatically offer a callback for waits longer than 10 minutes and would direct the Secretary to issue guidance to reduce average waits on covered lines to no more than 10 minutes. - Families and individual callers would see estimated wait times and be offered an automatic callback when waits exceed 10 minutes, reducing time spent on hold. - VA customer service teams would need to add automated wait-time and callback systems within one year and follow guidance aimed at cutting average waits to 10 minutes or less. - The requirement applies to VA customer service lines defined as covered lines and explicitly excludes the toll-free veterans hotline under 38 U.S.C. 1720F(h) and emergency department phone lines.
